O internet: entertain me

trocheeI am bored and distracted by some painful and possibly unnecessary drama, and I am unable to pay attention to anything for very long.
Thus I post meaningless thoughts and silliness, and record for my own future use possiblegood clever terrible ideas.
For example: I think it would be entertaining to use support vector machines or a maximum entropy model to try to automatically learn ratings on Hot or Not -- it's fairly easy to do data gathering, and extracting features from the photograph (and ideally the text profile too!) is a matter of standard photo processing.

You take risks based on what you know -- and honestly, with LJ, there's lots of information about the person you're gambling on, because they (okay, he) is living in a community that you can examine more closely. And in your own private space, you can ask yourself -- is this somebody I like? Is this someone I can trust? How much?
I'm pleased that you decided to take the risk. I hope you continue to feel it was worthwhile.
