... that I've woken up in the morning with O, Canada in my head.

And now NPR is talking about the reinstatement of the draft again.

Coincidence? I think not!

I am fearful. Quiveringly fearful.

Oh, and now I have O Canada in my head, too. (Except, like any good freedom-lovin american, all i know of the song is "O Canada...")

O, Canada ...

then it goes
our home and native land
true patriot love [?]
in all our sons command
and that's where I lose it. Pretty good for a boy who grew up in Georgia.

Then again, I can't do much more of Dixie, either. And only slightly better at The Star Spangled Banner, for that matter.

Speaking of which, what a dumb song for a national anthem. Couldn't we pick America the Beautiful? (My personal preference is This Land is Your Land, but then I've always been a commie).

I actually support the draft now -- because we know it's coming after the election either way. So the Democrats who are pushing for this are really trying to bring it to a head so we face the ugliness in honesty. I personally am a little freaked out by the rumors that what the Army desperately needs is "programmers and linguists" [!]

The Star Spangled Banner is actually my favorite anthem. It's a constant reminder of why our country is here: we took it. We fought for it and won, which makes me somewhat proud every time i hear it (even though i hate violence/war).

You should go to more hockey games, you learn both anthems pretty well =)

As far as the commie thing goes, the number of self-admitted "dirty pinko commies" at ibiblio is well above national averages (i'm still weird, as a socialist cynical enough to vote Libertarian).

Hey, that is pretty good for a Cracker!

I've always liked to end This Land is Your Land with "but not yours, Indians!" Funny. It's not really funny anymore. Now I can't remember why that was funny. Maybe i'm missing something. Maybe i'm really tired.

I, personally, would love to do a neurolinguistic analysis of George Bush's brain... to see if I could locate the peanut where his language is.

Heh.
