The Iraqi government calls Muntazer (or is it Mundathar?) al-Zaidi's footwear protest yesterday "barbaric and ignominious", which is absolute crap. It's assault, yes, but it's no more ignominious or barbaric than a pie-to-the-face -- more insulting, yes, but not more barbaric.

I'm aware of how insulting it is -- it's more like throwing shit than like throwing a pie -- but I still think it's hardly "barbaric".
