Remember if you need to store stuff in my basement, you can. ;)

  • Remove final extraneous bullet point ;^)
(And this is a really good idea. I'm gradually getting a handle on outline-mode in emacs. It's weird, but effective for limiting my scope.)

isn't it fun to use computer analogies and tools IRL? thrashing is exactly what happens to me when stressed out and busy.

Me too. Where you've got a dozen things, and you can't help but worry about 3 or 4 of them at a time, so you constantly set the task you're currently working on down, pick up another, and in the process realize you need to do yet another one... This is what happens when i try to clean my apartment. Thrashing is my worst enemy. I do a lot better when i'm well-hydrated, eating properly, and exercised. It's bizarre how that works out.

But, yeah, when i've got infinitely many infinitely better things to be doing, i spend all my time on LJ talking to people... ;^P

To temporarily stop thrashing, you need to terminate one or more applications. To stop it permanently, you need to install more main memory.

Disk thrashing can result in permanent failure of the hard drive; as the data is transferred back and forth, the hard drive’s read/write heads are subjected to considerable wear and tear.

yes.

and you say you're not an engineering smartypants.
