In no particular order:
  • I'm on a search committee for computational linguistics faculty; I spent a good part of yesterday reading through applications. It's a bit of an ego-battering, because nearly every application is very strong and -- of course -- has recommendations from people who think the applicant is awesome. I may one day be one of these people.
  • I received a package today from [livejournal.com profile] trombo2 and [livejournal.com profile] lapartera; it includes Dutch tulips (yes! they'll be worth millions!) from [livejournal.com profile] trombo2's trip to that nether land, and lovely mended socks for [livejournal.com profile] exterra and me from [livejournal.com profile] lapartera.
  • I'm working through my morphology paper and it's going to be a bit rather way way way over the expected length. It's supposed to be 5 pages, but I'm only half-finished with section 2 (of 4 plus appendix) and it's already 5 pages.
Back to work.

You *will* one day be one of these people no doubt.
Yeah for Xmas packages. I am the present this year for my family so there won't be any care packages to be had...

Heh. In my grad school they'd punish you for going over limits. "Your boss will never have time to read anything more than two pages, so I won't read more than that either!" Not that I never had to write long papers, but 'policy memos' were all the rage. It's frustrating, but you learn to be brutal and care less about nuances, and thrust your opinions out there. Hmmm, is that why our government works the way it does now?

Glad you like the socks. Hope they're still comfy with the darning. Exterra's I had to just redo, it was too far gone -- so it should be fine! Please send them back before they're in extremis next time!

Love to you all.

Those tulip bulbs won't make you that rich, but they might be the envy of your fellow gardeners. The strain is called "Stress", but I think you can handle it -- as you always have.
I had a nice trip to the nether land. And if I had experienced my cataract removal before that journey I might have seen more clearly than the 6-7 hours of daylight allowed. OK, let's check it out in my next trip.
