Hansel Mieth, on why she initially turned down employment at Life magazine (she later became the second woman ever on the staff at that magazine):

"[Life is] a capitalist magazine. I happen to not be a capitalist."

I think I love this quote because she assumes that capitalism is the aberrancy. It's hard to frame the assumptions that way these days. I will try to keep this near to mind.
