to think Orson Scott Card has lost his marbles and turned into a raving wingnut:

He now says he's:

a Democrat voting for Bush, even though on economic issues, from taxes to government regulation, I'm not happy with the Republican positions. But we're at war, and electing a president who is committed to losing it seems to be the most foolish thing we could do. Personal honesty is also important to me, and Kerry is obviously not in the running on that point, given that he can't keep track of the facts in his own autobiography.

Oy gevalt, is what I say. Schmuck. I repudiate you and your bigotries, and you can keep Homecoming and Treasure Box, that worthless piece of tripe. But I get to keep Ender's Game. Get out of my house.

Thanks to alice_ayers for pointing out this nice little novelist roll call for the election. Too bad they're not representative; I think we'd have a serious race between Kerry and Nader (with a handful of goons like OSC voting for the return of Adolf Hitler) if this pool of voters was the electorate.

Orson Scott Card on homosexuality. He is not just against it, he wants it to be illeagal.

He is, and always has been as far as I can tell, a member of the relgious right. If you swing that way on social and relgious issues, then G Dub is your boy. Its also poointless to expect such people to have rational arguments to explain their preference, because their entire decision is made on principles of faith.

this reminds me of Bradbury all of whose positions match the Democratic Party much better, and yet he votes Republican because he thinks the Republicans are Truly for Liberty.
