Here come the twits

In brief:
  • 09:56 dep't of personal minutiae: Missed a spot shaving; found it arriving at work. Driving me fidget-crazy; may have to go buy a workdesk razor. #
  • 10:27 Berlin & Kay: meet Munroe & Internet bit.ly/dqJplr (xkcd author does the color-names thing) via many nerds #
  • 11:58 McCain only likes 4th,5th,6th Amendments when it suits him: says "mistake" to give car-bomb suspect Miranda rights bit.ly/aSUjpe #

I often use twitter to mention what's happening or linkdump. I LT here for posterity.

What was a mistake was the no-fly lists that pre-emptively criminalize American citizens and still didn't stop this guy from getting on an international flight!

I sometimes get a little overprosodic in my orthography

yeah - those are pointless -- the US Air Marshals have been arrested themselves more than they've actually arrested anybody.

Furthermore, the usual really-not-that-complicated-here interpretation of Miranda rights are that they are not given to suspects, but acknowledged -- the guy has them already, and he has a right to the rights themselves.

Suspects have these right to avoid self-incrimination so deeply that if police fail to even remind suspects of these rights, the Man is already acting illegally.

Senator McCain forgets that officers of the executive branches of the government don't give these rights to people; they are required by the judicial branch to remind suspects that they have them already.
