ntfsresize warning messages...
Jun. 12th, 2003 03:26 pmI said I wouldn't post about this, but...
Current device size: 20003848704 bytes (20004 MB) New volume size : 3999997952 bytes (4000 MB) Checking filesystem consistency ... 100.00 percent completed Accounting clusters ... Space in use : 2672 MB (13.4%) WARNING: Every sanity check passed and only the DANGEROUS operations left. Please make sure all your important data had been backed up in case of an unexpected failure! Are you sure you want to proceed (y/[n])?
Yowza. Does anybody else find that warning a little scary? I said "y" anyway...
By the way, Knoppix is so cool it hurts. I just dropped it into my Windows 98 box and (bam!) I have a Debian system running off the CD.
I tore out the NTFS harddisk from my new laptop, installed it into the chassis of my win98 machine, and rebooted with Knoppix again. Not only did it identify (and read) the hard disk, but after those scary warning messages it resized the NTFS filesystem. I can't even get Windows to do that.
If you see me on the street, I'll be the guy handing out home-burns of the Knoppix 3.2-2003-06-06 .iso like they're invitations to the latest hipster show.
"Here, check this out. Hey, you look down, come to this. Take one of these, bro."
