I have a new Dell with lots of memory and CPU. the one with Windows was "discounted" while the ones that ship with Linux aren't. So I bought the same computer for $500 less with Windows, and I'll install Ubuntu the day it arrives. That particular game (paying me to accept a computer with Windows Vista) kinda annoys me.
technically, they were different models (the 1420 with windows and the 1420-n with Linux). But they varied by only a few small pieces of hardware (a different WLAN card, I think, was the only difference).
but since they're different models, they were discounting the 1420 but not the 1420 n. I wonder what Dell has to say about this.
