So I'm now a firm believer in Debian Linux. And they've recently had a problem with security on their servers (see this news article and this one).

But why am I still a believer after this setback?

apt-get and the APT system in general. Specifically, the ease of installing new software with apt-get; I love being able to write apt-get install logjam and have it "just work".

Debian's commitment to free software, especially the democratic constitution. Who else could support a system of free software using a democratic medium?

Ah, I gotta love geeks with a social conscience.

yeah debian is cool... i'm in the process of switching over. actually the reason is that i installed apt-rpm , which is like apt-get for rpms, and was totally sold on it. the rpm db fuxors up all the time, & i'm tired of it.

plus i'm down with all that debian philosophy jazz :)
