Finder, finals, funding

Today was my first of two finals. Long; my hand is cramped.

After the exam, I walked down to my comics shop in the University District.
"Pfft... well, one down, one to go."
"tests?"
"Yeah, finals. Just one left and I'm done for the quarter. Hey, you have my comics?"
"Oh, yeah, just a minute." (Digs in box) "Here you go. Finder and Fables, two Fs." (A moment passes.) "Uh, I mean, I mean I didn't mean --"
"Yeah, let's hope those are the only ones."

In apparently related news, the latest Finder has come out. I haven't yet read it, but I am reminded that I owe lx at least a link to that most awesome series. More sometime later, maybe.

In largely unrelated news -- I have just come across several very exciting possibilities for keeping myself entertained academically for the next year or so. I have a chance to be invited to the next Johns Hopkins Summer Workshop in Human Language Technology (working on multimedia data retrieval!), and I may be visiting LA in February to meet up with our machine translation working group down at ISI. Yay!
