Yes, it's true!
Oct. 1st, 2006 04:53 pmI proposed to
imtboo Friday night. She said 'yes!'
(actually, she said "yes! did you really just ask me that?")
She has pictures we took that night on her journal. (go look ! it's cute !)
It was an outbreak of planned spontaneity: I had bought a ring on Tuesday, and carried it around with me in a superstitious fear that D. would find it if I left it somewhere at home. My plan: to propose on Sunday, October 1, thus beating (by one day) our two-year anniversary*. But the moment came up as we unwound at the end of a busy busy day, talking about what it would be like to have kids, when D. joked "whoa slow down cowboy; you know, there are a few things that need to be done before then."
Something clicked for me, and I leapt up from the sofa, and said "hold on."
"Wait, but I was about to say something," said D.
"This is more important," I said. (She thought I was joking!)
I grabbed the ring from my backpack, returned to the living room, sat down next to her and asked her to marry me. She didn't even see the ring.

I'm happy. I'm happy I found this woman, and I'm happy she said yes.
*Dorothy pointed out later that Friday is actually two years exactly after our first interaction (thank you
caracola!).
