Sunday puzzler tip

Will Shortz' Sunday puzzler today is very easy for people with tools.

It would be fun if a computational linguist won -- raise the profile of our (pre)occupation, eh?

Stuff the ballot box! Solve it (took me about 10 seconds on the command line) and maybe one of us will win!

oh, and monosyllables only, so "redhead Flymo" is doubly out. I had to look up Flymo, though.

If I had to guess, I would have guessed that flying lawnmowers were more common over here in the US. But I would have been wrong!

I had to give my cell number in the form...but it won't necessarily be on at that time. Why do they need ti exactly, to get the rights to say the person's name?

the schtick is that the winner gets to be on the show and do a puzzle online. also you win stuff (dictionaries, scrabble sets, etc) for being on the show.

Well, without tools or time at my disposal, I doubt I could answer a puzzle on the spot per se :).

the ones they have you do on the spot are much easier. And they fit into a pattern. Like today's was "dog breeds, built from an anagram plus a letter":

ghana + F = afghan

etc.

Besides, the host (not Shortz) helps out if you get stuck. and you win the stuff anyway.
