Johnny and Shel
i had no idea that "A Boy Named Sue", that Johnny Cash classic, was written by Shel Silverstein, of all people. And they share a Grammy for it!
An icon of my young adulthood (Cash) just met up with an icon of my childhood (Silverstein). Silverstein has apparently co-written with David Mamet, too!
Thanks to "American Routes."

This is different from the PBS show American Roots, although it has a similar theme.
And I love the A B Z's -- I loved them even more as a kid because it was clearly a shared secret between Shel and me, like we were getting away with something together.
