Does anybody know whether there's a good reason to use apacite for APA style references instead of natbib with apalike which comes with my tetex install?

I'm inclined to use natbib, with apalike just because I won't have to install anything new. and it seems like natbib is a little more popular though perhaps not as strictly coherent to the APA rules.

Anybody worked with this?

Update: This page from Reed suggests that apacite and natbib together is the way to go.

don't apologize; it made me giggle.

Sometimes I reflect on what I'm doing and I really feel like a wizard -- the old kind, with magic incantations and seemingly meaningless ingredients for a peculiar potion.

your response pointed out that I was acting that way.

it is magical incantations. The words actually can control things in the world, even more directly than the old abracadabra-style stuff!

i so want to steal lakaschmek for the name of my next programming project.
