Maybe it's the bad karma leaking up from New Orleans or Washington or Baghdad.
Maybe it's that I stayed up too late last night in Oakland watching a dumb movie with old friends, and then drove back to Palo Alto after midnight.
Maybe it's that I'm not super excited about being here in Palo Alto; the work I'm doing is mostly reloading livejournal this week, while other stuff happens at molasses pace.
More likely it's just being too long away from loved ones and friends.
Whatever the reason, I'm cranky today. I feel lonely, and out of touch.

It sounds like you have been wrestling with the issues in the news. That always tends to bring one down and I honor you for your willingness to spend time writing and pondering it.
