why does EVALB not compile? When I change the obvious things, I get warnings, but the resulting executable simply does the wrong thing -- with no error.

Furthermore the makefile has -Wall but then the code itself has stuff that generates warnings all over it -- like void main instead of int main.

Could this be an effect of the latest gcc? I'm using 3.4.2 but I imagine the code hasn't been looked at since 2.96. :(

[update: fixed; the compiling problems were real but also PEBKAC: once I got it to compile, I was invoking it wrong.]

Yes. gcc has changed quite a bit between those versions, notably the strictness with warnings/error reporting.

Well you know the BOO is probably broken and even though it's open source, well... they forgot to update the WINGEDBOY and then the BECKSTER file was corrupt so by the time you try the TROKE, the whole WWW just shuts down.

BOO has a bad ankle kernel is all. I've recompiled BOO with the SNOOOPS patch and I think it's fairly stable. We have however lost direct connection with the BECKSTER framework. WINGEDBOY is showing a serious machine.config error today, but we have our IT guys working under him.

Beckster has been working on interface design all day long and has not been connected to the interweb. She is now ready to start compiling.

sounds like the BWB is up on blocks for a while, along with the patched BOO kernel. What's wrong with BWB today?

I'm not sure. He was throwing Exceptions all week. Had an Index Out of Bounds Monday even. Sheesh.

sometimes I worry that you'll have a trochee-out-of-memory error, what with all the pointer-dereferencing required to get a hold of me.

Not to worry. TROCHEE has been flashed to the BWB-BIOS. That's entrenched in the software now.

Last night I spent like 20 minutes thinking about I now understand the difference between an operating system, software, hardware and the internet. These things are like a b c's for you. I've learned a lot in a really short amount of time !
Now I don't want to used windows or any microsoft anymore.
It's a problem as a playright.

You may not feel that way, but that's actually a fairly sophisticated grasp of what's going on with your computer.

A lot of people -- even some engineers -- don't really fully grasp the distinctions you're mentioning there.
