... the shoulder of the mountain, that is. I've got a draft of all chapters 1-6 and an appendix. Chapter 7 (Conclusion) is still to be written, and there are figures and examples to fill in in all chapters, not to mention a variety of small annoying tasks at the grad school to make it happen.

Oh, and a defense on Monday.

But I still feel like I've cleared the shoulder of the mountain, and I'm in sight of the final ascent. Now it's just a matter of keeping my focus up here at the high altitude so that I can get it all done in time.

Oh, son of the broad shoulders! This amount of work (climbing) seemed incredible to me. How you get so much done in so little time is beyond anything in my experience. But then, it's beyond me to drink such strong coffee, too -- (etc).

How will your thesis interrogators (? -- plaintiffs [since you're the "defense"]) have time to read your opus before they grill you on Monday?

Enough Dad-drivel. On to "Chapter 7" -- and the summit!

Looking forward to your cool-down visit to Maine. That's when I can tell you all the things I've been suppressing so a to minimize the distractions from your thesis.

yay! I'm looking forward to that time too. I hope I don't have to do rewrites while I'm there. Probably some, but hopefully not too much.
