Regarding the Egyptian bombs.

I have nothing to add to what [livejournal.com profile] slit said here.

Yes, except there doesn't appear to be an egypt_hurts community. (and the last commenter--touchyphiliac--sounds like a real jerk)

that there isn't such a community supports exactly the point she's trying to make.

Oh. Now who's being dense? ;)

It's just too hot today... like in Egypt.

(I get it now. I'll have more to say later when my brain's not melting.)

it took me a few reads too. I wish what she's pointing out wasn't true: I consider myself a fairly progressive, open-minded, anti-racist white guy, as Americans go.

And yet the London bombings freaked me out -- why not the Sharm El-Sheikh ones? It's not a reaction I'm proud of.

I think they bothered me equally because I know people in both countries. Not sure why that should make a difference, but it did.

They freaked * me* out

I posted that 8 minutes after it happened.

No criticism intended of anyone, really. I did see your post about that. But yours (and [livejournal.com profile] slit's>) were really the only things I saw about this.

I didn't feel criticized. I wasn't sure if you had seen it...
