I'm not grumpy cause of the weekend, i'm grumpy 'cause it's over.

Had a lovely weekend with imtboo, which involved not-leaving-the-house for quite some time, even when we'd both planned to go do writing. I have no regrets there. Had a great time at the Cabaret and the Sunset Bowl with blackwingedboy and beckyb and R and of course the lovely imtboo who looks at me like I'm hot at the moments when I'm making the silliest jokes. Hmm....

Today, on the other hand:

• gmail just went down
• livejournal is more fun than actual research
• Advisor is wondering if I should postpone my defense by a week or two
• I am starting to wonder if I should

I think I need to break my research down into very very small pieces. And do one.

And get the heck off the internet, for at least a few hours.

advantages -- less crazy in the immediate future.

disadvantages -- i may not be able to get my committee together. also, I'd not be done when we go on vacation. :p

You know, my relationships were a lot more fufilling when i stopped confusing a look of shame for a look of lust ;^)

(I hate to say it, but postponing the defense sounds like it might be a bad idea, due to the whole advisor-disappearing-act. Depending on how hardass your department is, putting it off might be a good idea, but most departments i've been around have had defenses as mostly-perfunctory exercises, going more on comps and demonstrated ability as a researcher instead of as a defender. I'm still a bit mystified by the whole process.)

oh yeah -- and I went to about half an hour of a killer party at caracola's house. Wish I coulda stayed longer. I hope we'll have another chance when we all reconverge on Seattle in the fall!
