trocheeI'm not feeling so busy, now that my paper's submitted. But I have more work to do, and it's progressing, slowly.
I spent Saturday wandering around my neighborhood on foot, going grocery shopping and dropping off papers with![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
exterra. It was nice to see Priscilla the cat, who was home when I dropped off the papers, but nobody else was.
I spent Sunday lazing about withimtboo; I got to talk to _dkg_ and she to her father and stepmom, and we didn't rush anywhere, or anything. We went for a long walk, to a mystery writing-place, had pastries and cocoa, and both noodled on our not-matching laptops. I failed to get any work done, and so did she. We walked back past a hole-in-the-wall ethiopian food place named for the daughter of the owners, and had dinner there, along with Miss Namesake, who was watching the Disney Channel and lying about her age ("I'm seven," she insisted when questioned; "no, not really," she added, "I'm six." imtboo was convinced that even six was a stretch.)
Went back to Boo's house and watched the Tony awards by flipping channels -- neither of us would go out of our way to see them ordinarily, that's for sure. I wasn't impressed by most of it -- the musicals, in particular, seem completely cliche without even being form-focused. I think I could like musicals if I could be convinced that it was like butoh or chinese opera or independent comics (in that there's a rich background against which novel art is contrasting) and this is one of those (like the first two) where I just don't fully understand the references. But I think that big mainstream musical shows are not like that.
Boo got a platonic email from an admirer, and I wrestled with irrational jealousy. I told her about it, and we talked it out. I felt like a jerk for feeling that way, but she was glad I told her instead of sitting on it. So was I -- taking a risk to tell her was rewarded by her kindness in how she took it.
Today my body is shutting down. I feel like I have a sickness coming on, perhaps, or just need to sleep for twelve hours. I don't have any symptoms except feeling tired, though.

you'll note I dodged the question of the apostrophe by saying "Tony awards" -- I couldn't decide how to pluralize "Tony" -- is it "Tonies"? "Tony's"? "Tonys"? The first one treats it like a common noun, and has a regular spelling change, but it's not a common noun; the second one has a difficult relationship with the usual intension of the 's phrasal affix; the third one (1) violates the spelling-changing guidelines from the first, (2) has a terminal -ys which always makes me think of Greek, but (3) doesn't treat "Tony" as a common noun, and I don't think it should be here either.
