in more interesting news: my paper is done. It is eight pages exactly, just under the limit for the submission of course. It's a darn good paper; they'd better accept it this time. Much time spent yesterday on it, but still managed to be done at 6p, in time to go to see

lgtheater in Quickies in Ballard. Ms. Boo wrote one of the plays and directed another. All six of the short plays were by turns funny and thought-provoking.

It's so nice to be done with that big project. I still have lots to do, of course -- life goes on -- but it's nice to take a deep breath and recognize that this particular milestone is past, the summer is nigh, and my work seems to be settling down to a reasonable daily routine instead of spurts of insane over-focus. Even this paper I just completed didn't require the same full week of hyperfocus that the first round on it did, or perhaps my head is simply clearer and putting in the work doesn't require me to dig quite so deep for the strength.

Yay for submitted papers! I just heard that Paul T. gets to buy me a beer in Portugal. I wish this current one was going a little more smoothly-- trying to read logfiles that made sense two years ago is not the way I want to be spending my time right now.
