Sometimes it's more fun to do family-based tech support than research.
lapartera:
lapartera and
trombo2. Wish we could have dinner together more often.
What I taught to
trombo2 this weekend:
- craig's list works, even in atlanta
- spam filtering is better when it's on
- keyboard shortcuts for Firefox: ctrl-L, ctrl-T, ctrl-K, ctrl-tab, etcetera
- how to subscribe to RSS feeds in Thunderbird
- pointed out the little red star in Thunderbird that says "you've got mail here you haven't seen before"
- how to configure LJ S2 (e.g. so that visited links turn up in different color than unvisited)
- delicious extension for inside Firefox
- windows networks like you to have usernames
- putting convenient things on desktop isn't worth much unless you can find it again later
- (with
_dkg_, remotely:) using keywords in firefox bookmarks for addressbar shortcuts - why gmail multilabels are better than folders

Date: 2005-05-30 05:43 pm (UTC)Anyway, we were so delighted to have you here for a couple of days -- though of course we want more! Really looking forward to some time together in Maine!
I am particularly grateful to you, dear, for figuring out how to get my various computers to see the network in our home. A weird situation that had been pending for some time and I was doing some really ugly workarounds to transfer info from one to another.
I now have some neat tricks in Firefox, too.
Thanks so much for taking the time to come our way. I hope the trip home (via DC!!) wasn't too horrendous.
