I went to the Microsoft/UW computational linguistics colloquium today. One very good talk, one very hand-wavey and vague talk that managed to actually use the expression "as for 'introspection', some people might call it 'navel-gazing', but we won't go there." This piece of disingenuousness inspired a little WordNet research during the talk (MS doesn't allow people onto their wireless network, but I have wordnet on my [gasp] Debian laptop). The word of the day is thus:
apophasis: mentioning something by saying it will not be mentioned.
from Wordnet: other hyponyms of rhetorical device
