Ah, that is so true. People put ENERGY into hating Nixon. It invigorated them. They went out and did something because they hated him! The Shrub administration, by contrast, sends all my friends (and me) into a sort of torporous malaise. We vote, we write letters, we join the ACLU, but there's no fierce heart in it. It's like being infected with evil malaria.
