LSA off the plate

I've been working on an abstract for the LSA all week. It's been very frustrating, because I'm not convinced that what I'm working on -- although interesting to me -- will be interesting to the readers there.

I'm working on computational libraries to make it easier to do corpus linguistics and corpus maintenance on treebanks. Much of the LSA syntax work (though not all, by any stretch) isn't interested in corpus work, but instead in theoretical questions involving a small handful of sentences. This is not my thing.

However, I am almost entirely finished. I will need to edit out a dozen words (I'm ten words over the limit), re-run LaTeX, print it out, fill out at least one form, and send a dozen (!) paper (!) copies to the conference organizers on Monday morning, but I'm otherwise finished with it. The worst of it is over.

I'm off to take a shower and go to bed.
