The meme has made me uneasy for the same reason, though I too agree with the sentiment of it. Marriage should simply be a civil union in the eyes of the law, so that any two people if they so desire can enter into one, with the citizenship/healthcare/etc. benefits accordingly extended. I don't think love is pertinent to the discussion at all, much as I personally consider it essential to marriage. What does a government (need to) know of love?
