Now you have to check out R.O.D. the TV, which is also very strange. You're right about the way the historical figures were handled in the OAV. That plot's not picked up in the TV series at all if I remember correctly. In fact, I'm not sure if I could tell you much about the villians in the TV series, to tell you the truth. I think I just like all of the bibliophilia with a lesbian subtext. And the TV series has a cranky novelist with writers block, so bonus.
