I am working on my computational morphology paper. I decided to work on Arabic verbal morphology. Since I did an implementation, it is supposed to be a five-page writeup of the implementation.

My handwritten notes have ballooned to ten eleven pages. Since there's a partial compression from handwritten to typed, but a substantial expansion in going from notes to actual writeup (not to mention the insertion of code snippets to show the interesting parts) I expect this paper to be over ten pages long. One of my classmates (L) has started joking that she wants me to sit in lecture facing backwards, wearing headphones blasting white noise. "It's only fair," she protests, "he needs a handicap."
