I was talking with [livejournal.com profile] beckyb on google chat and I looked out the window, to see a Steller's Jay: a beautiful rich blue corvid with a black head.

How cool is that?

Also, some of you may enjoy the online bird field guide I found.

I'm in love with this guide! It clarified that I was looking at a young female cardinal along with the waxwings, grackles, sparrows and rabbits out in the yard.
