A tragedy of less than epic proportions: no interweb.

They've taken away my Internets. Yes, I can still see LJ through the dumb web-proxy, but my supply-closet access to the internet was discovered by some zealously paranoid network person and removed. Now I can't check email except at the hotel. Great.

*shakes fists in minor impotent whinging at the sky*

I think I'll probably be able to get it fixed -- I can't transfer anything from my lab computers to this office without it -- but the people whom I should ask are all out of the office all day. Ah well.

Yuck. It sounds like they're not very organized down there. Good luck getting someone to sort this out tomorrow. You've been there almost 2 weeks now, haven't you? Sheesh - this sounds a bit like my experiences in the lab I interned at in France - getting computer stuff set up there was pretty hopeless, too. One would think they'd like you to be able to get work done, though, and realize that computers/network are helpful.

yah. I've learned mainly that the research environment in our lab is better. that's both reassuring (yay I work in a cool place most of the time!) and disappointing (not all industry research jobs are rockin' with the helpful research environment).

I at least have internet at the hotel, so I can stay in the loop with other stuff. And I have some work I can do usefully here, even without the network, but it doesn't bode well for collaboration.

I heard from Beckster that your wedding was beautiful.
I don't know you, but. Congratulations !
She said it was low stress and all about the witnessing of love.
Exactly what it should be.
Where is your honey moon ?

Thank you! It's really neat to hear that other people (like Becky) thought it was as wonderful as we did. Low stress is accurate - it was fun to blow away that particular stereotype.

We're going on a cruise to Alaska next week - we're very excited!

I think we met very very briefly after [livejournal.com profile] trochee's MA defense... hopefully I'll see you again sometime. [livejournal.com profile] trochee and [livejournal.com profile] beckyb have been plugging Live Girls to me at every opportunity, and I was too busy moving (and wedding-planning, but mostly moving) to actually show up for anything. I live in Ballard now, so not far to go to the theater... hopefully in a couple weeks I'll start paying attention to the schedule and make it to the next show.

Exactly! A cruise to Alaska followed by the September cabaret!

Hee. I won't be there but oh well.
