what i've gotten done today, and more

sometimes, i make done lists instead of to-do lists. It's not forward-looking, but I have to feel like I'm making progress, and it can help. Thus, done today:

• my homework for stats NLP
• went to the Comp Ling lab (although I was crabby and critical)
• had lunch with Laurie -- talked through more of my own emotional crap, also solved her problem (it was character-encoding: data was labeled as Latin-1 but was actually UTF-8).
• updated several friends on my status.
• met with my advisor about my thesis.

Correspondingly, there is a to-do list with each:

• need to have a chapter of my thesis done by end of next week
• read more Pema Chödrön
• review a joint paper for a workshop
• try to catch up on some of the LM work I'm supposed to doing in order to be paid
• reading for stats NLP for next week (low priority)

What I'd like to do:

• sleep
• read comic books
• take a week-long retreat in the mountains
